In the recent past several case histories due to ant stings resulting severe anaphylaxis, including a death of ypung female was reported from Kurunegala and some other localities closer to Kurunegala such as Minuwangete, Melsiripura, Dambulla areas in Sri Lanka. This has triggered a consultant physician in the Teaching Hospital, Kurunegala to initiate a search for the information about ants and anaphylaxis which is important for the treatments of ant bites.
