This book is designed to introduce to international audiences how the modern form of K-pop began and evoked. It is mainly divided into two sections: pre-history of K-pop from Japanese colonial rule up to the early 1990s and K-pop’s development into a global cultural element throughout the 1990s and 2000s. A brief introduction to K-pop’s representative idol groups is also included in the second portion.
