The Dardanelles, which is one of the important waterways today just like in the ancient ages, has been the key of intercultural interaction through its geopolitical situation. As a result of this, both sides of the Dardanelles has provided opportunity for a lot of cities to be founded including Parion.Through the first systematical excavations starting in 2005. It has been understood that Parion has been one of the most important cities in Troas region based on the excavations carried out for 11 years and unearthed archeological findings. It also became the shining star of Troas region. Parion ancient city excavations have made great contributions not only to Canakkale region but also to the Anatolian archeology through its infrastructure, interdisciplinary, project-based and conservation-oriented studying nature. Along with all these features, Parion excavations have provided many opportunities for the scientists and students from many different universities in our country.
