Hajj: A Journey Back in Time is not a discourse on the traditions of the Hajj nor a guidebook on the rituals of the pilgrimage. Instead, the author has compiled vintage and later era postcards and photographs of the Hajj from his personal collection, offering a visual glimpse of the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. His hope is that the readers will be moved by the piousness of this journey and will appreciate this vintage depiction of the Hajj. Images of Madina Al-Munawar [The Luminous City] are also included in the book; while a visit to Madina is not necessary as part of the Hajj pilgrimage, most pilgrims do so because it is rare that anybody would miss it. The visuals in this collection span the years from the late 1800s to about the 1980s.
