Subramani is the voice of our collective conscience. The 3 plays reflect our identity as a place, a country conflicted in many ways yet resilient in its political struggles. Fiji is home, a place of significance and special to all those of us who call it home. Yet there are times when there is this love/hate relationship brought about by our colonial history and followed by the political upheavals of the last three decades. In spite of this, Fiji remains the place that’s laid the foundation of who we are, irrespective of our ethnic identity. The 3 plays illustrate conflicts yet paradoxically it is through these conflicts that we find ourselves. It is through these conflicts that we gain a better understanding of who we are and thereby have a greater tolerance of each other. (Fiction)
