Militarism was a familiar feature of most Igbo pre-colonial societies. The Ezza has been adjudged warmongers, headhunters, and land grabbers which manifested in several Ezza diaspora in different parts of Nigeria. However, beyond warmongering and land grabbing are several other features of the Ezza society which many does not identify. Stereotypes and Realities: The History of the Ezza People identifies the Ezza as an African society with similar characteristics of the Igbo bordering on politics, trade, production, marriage, rites of passage, festivals, etc.
