Introduction to Language Education: The Nigerian Perspective is designed as textbook for students of the course, Language Education and Teaching Language Skills. It is a collection of articles written by contributors who have had a long experience in teaching the two courses mentioned above. The content of the book is informed by the provisions of the National Policy on Education which gives pride of place to the teaching of the English language over and above the mother tongue because of the important role which the language plays in our national life. This means that the English language is used throughout the book as the language of exemplification.
