The African membrane Drum and its notation is a result of many years of practical experience of the author, as a master drummer. The membrane drum is the most populous musical instrument in Africa that is played and enjoyed by young and old. For pedagogical reasons, the author takes the delight in teaching and tabling out basic playing techniques and performance practice strategies that would ignite student's interest in the African membrane drum studies. The author has also developed notational symbols that would ease learner's understanding of the theory and practice of the membrane drum. This book is a guide to students and teachers of the African membrane drum and drum ensembles.
