WOMAN WITH HORNS AND OTHER STORIES, by award-winning Filipino writer Cecilia Manguerra Brainard, collects a dozen stories that draw from historical and contemporary sources. Many of the stories explore the clash of Philippine culture with foreign influences that reached the archipelago during different historical periods. Cecilia Manguerra Brainard is the author and editor of over twenty books, including three novels: When the Rainbow Goddess Wept, Magdalena, and The Newspaper Widow. Her recent awards and recognition include the 40th National Book Award and the Cirilo F. Bautista Prize in 2023 for her Selected Short Stories. The book she edited, Growing Up Filipino 3 was finalist for the 41th National Book Award in 2024.
