The art of Cai Luong was born in the South at the beginning of the twentieth century and has experienced ups and downs in history. From its peak in the 1930s to 1960s, Cai Luong has become an indispensable part of the cultural life of the Southerners. However, after 1975, this art form began to decline in the face of competition with new forms of entertainment. In 2013, UNESCO recognized Don Ca Tai Tu as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Cai Luong theater art is inherited and developed from the art of Southern Don Ca Tai Tu, which has recently been recognized as a valuable cultural heritage, with many efforts through TV programs and conservation projects.
