Corporate law is essentially concerned with, first, providing a corporate entity or organ with the means to facilitate and regulate the process of raising capital (i.e. legal principles of corporate finance) and, second, imposing controls on persons whose power is elevated by the finance that the use of the corporate form has placed at their disposal (i.e. corporate governance).
