This book does not necessarily chronicle the 50 years in between the 1972 martial declaration that led to its the authoritarian experiment and the 2022 election of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as president. On the contrary, it chronicles the major antecedents that highlight the conflicting themes of authoritarianism and democracy. It seeks a full understanding to grapple with these events.
