The communal house in the North of Vietnam is one of the typical types of architecture, developed brilliantly from the 16th to the 18th century, with many political, social and religious significance. In particular, the hammock door system plays an important role, not only as a sacred partition between the great palace and the harem but also as a cultural symbol reflecting the traditional art of Vietnamese sculpture.
